Haad
Tien Bungalows is a discrete development with minimal environmental
impact designed to provide discerning guests with private, comfortable
and clean accommodation set in cared for gardens against a back-drop
of virgin jungle. Because the property is a significant resting
point for migratory birds, the development is designed to conserve
– 90% of the property is dedicated to maintaining the native flora
and fauna. Where possible, wastewater and rubbish is re-cycled
and the beach is cleaned daily.
24-hour
security is provided and since there is no traffic it is very
safe for children – both in and out of the sea - and consequently
no traffic noise and yet you are within easy reach of all the
island’s amenities. The island’s electrical power plant usually
provides a 24-hour supply, but in case of a failure we have
a back-up generator. A new dam and water storage facility should
help ensure adequate water supplies, although fresh water will
always be very precious on Koh Tao as there are no lakes, rivers
or streams and more than 50% of the island’s rainfall comes
during the monsoon.
A
ten-minute walk will take you to the village of Chalok Baan
Kao where there are some shops, several dive tour operators,
ticket agencies, ATM machines, clinics and more bars and restaurants.
From Chalok it’s a short taxi (pick-up truck) ride to the port
of Mae Haad and Sairee Beach with their greater selection of
shops, medical services and banks

LOCATION
Getting To Koh Tao Via Koh Samui…
The quickest way to Koh Tao Map is by way of Bangkok Airways
who fly direct from Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, Singapore, Kuala
Lumpur and a number of the destinations.
Upon
arrival at Koh Samui, one can arrange transfer to through the
airport information desk. Samui can only be reached by boat
as there is no airport on Koh Tao Map. We recommend the 1? hours
voyage by either the Lomprayah Catamaran or the Seatran Discovery
which leave twice daily for Koh Tao Map. There are other options
available via other boats, but these are by far the fastest
and best ways to reach Koh Tao Map. Regardless of which option
you choose you should be aware that the last boat leaving Koh
Samui for Koh Tao Map is 12 noon.
The
last catamaran leaving Koh Tao Map is at 3pm daily, so any onward
flight bookings/reservations should ideally be scheduled for
after 6pm to allow for any unforeseen delays. Transfers from
the piers to the airport are readily available for minimal sums
and in some cases included in the catamaran pricelist.
Via Chumphon…
Getting to Chumphon from Bangkok is very simple either by train
or a comfortable VIP bus. Both options can easily be booked
in Bangkok or online. Again Lomprayah Catamaran offers two trips
and Seatran Discovery offers one trip to Chumphon daily and
the price includes the transfer to Koh Tao. Via Suratthani…
Travellers from Phuket & Krabi typically pass through Suratthani,
which is a long and at times uncomfortable journey in a minibus.
Boat options are very limited and the only direct boat is a
little dubious even at the best of times. This night boat leaves
Suratthani every night at 11 pm. We do not recommend coming
to Koh Tao Map this route but recommend you fly from either
Phuket or Krabi directly to Koh Samui.
